Jessica Kane has always had a love of children and a desire to help those who have faced hardship, tragedy, and pain. Jessica started her career as a school guidance counselor and a licensed therapist specifically so she could help children in need find a positive way forward. This often included counseling, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and more.
Jessica then went on to become a paralegal at the Law Offices of Samuel Kane, where she saw the suffering and pain that came with personal injury and tragic loss, especially when children and families were involved. This inspired her to earn her Juris Doctorate from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, becoming an attorney so she could help families get compensation and, eventually, closure. Her experience with children and the ways in which they process trauma help inform her approach to clients, especially minors and their families.
Along with personal injury cases involving minors, Jessica has also successfully tackled cases involving active military and veterans, as well as wrongful death suits. Her clients appreciate her patience and compassion in the most difficult moments, paired with an unwavering determination when pursuing justice on their behalf.
Outside of her law practice, Jessica is an avid “rim-to-rim” hiker, marathon runner, and a mother to five wonderful children. Her dream is to grow the practice so that it “runs like a big firm, but is personal like a small one.” Her patience and compassion when working with clients is matched only by her tenacity and determination when fighting for their cause.
After an accident, it’s natural to reach for your phone and let people know you’re okay. A quick update, a photo, or a short comment on social media can feel like the easiest way to keep friends and family in the loop. What’s less obvious is how social media after an accident can be interpreted […]
For many, the prospect of calling a personal injury lawyer conjures an intimidating mental picture: a packed courtroom, a judge staring down from the bench, maybe a stressful, public fight. Some clients won’t even file a claim for fear of a drawn-out legal battle. The truth, however, is much less dramatic. In fact, very few […]
After an accident, the question isn’t always whether you can file an injury claim, but whether you should. A common concern is that filing a claim will trigger higher insurance premiums, a policy change, or a lasting “high-risk” label. That fear tends to hit careful drivers the hardest. If you’ve spent years maintaining a clean […]
Most people don’t immediately think about filing a claim after an accident. In fact, the first instinct is often the opposite: “I don’t want to make a big deal out of this.” “I’m not the kind of person who sues people.” Especially in smaller communities, there’s a quiet pride in handling things on your own […]
Injury cases used to start with a simple question: “What happened?” Attorneys pieced together answers from driver and witness memories, police reports, and whatever could be reconstructed after the fact. Today, the story often begins differently — because the incident was already recorded before anyone had a chance to speak. Doorbell cameras, retail surveillance systems, […]
When a child is injured in a public place such as a park or school, parents are often left worrying about paying for medical bills while also tending to the child’s emotional needs. Since it happened on public property, could someone else be liable for compensating the family? The answer is “Absolutely”. Premise liability laws […]
