Jessica Kane has always had a love of children and a desire to help those who have faced hardship, tragedy, and pain. Jessica started her career as a school guidance counselor and a licensed therapist specifically so she could help children in need find a positive way forward. This often included counseling, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and more.
Jessica then went on to become a paralegal at the Law Offices of Samuel Kane, where she saw the suffering and pain that came with personal injury and tragic loss, especially when children and families were involved. This inspired her to earn her Juris Doctorate from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, becoming an attorney so she could help families get compensation and, eventually, closure. Her experience with children and the ways in which they process trauma help inform her approach to clients, especially minors and their families.
Along with personal injury cases involving minors, Jessica has also successfully tackled cases involving active military and veterans, as well as wrongful death suits. Her clients appreciate her patience and compassion in the most difficult moments, paired with an unwavering determination when pursuing justice on their behalf.
Outside of her law practice, Jessica is an avid “rim-to-rim” hiker, marathon runner, and a mother to five wonderful children. Her dream is to grow the practice so that it “runs like a big firm, but is personal like a small one.” Her patience and compassion when working with clients is matched only by her tenacity and determination when fighting for their cause.
When a child is injured in a public place such as a park or school, parents are often left worrying about paying for medical bills while also tending to the child’s emotional needs. Since it happened on public property, could someone else be liable for compensating the family? The answer is “Absolutely”. Premise liability laws […]
Nearly every good consumed in the U.S. travels on a truck at some point, whether it’s a semi-trailer, a flatbed truck, a box freight truck, or even a delivery truck. Because of their size and the large loads they carry, crashes involving a truck can result in serious injuries and high-dollar property damage. Here, we’ll […]
When someone’s been hurt in an accident, they expect their attorney to do everything possible to get the compensation they deserve. But when it starts to feel like their case isn’t a priority, is taking too long, or there’s pressure to take a settlement that seems too low, the victim may want to change their […]
Dealing with an accident can be very stressful, and that stress can linger for weeks, months, or even years after the incident. In severe cases, people even experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which can affect day-to-day life. Some accident victims try to ignore these impacts because they are difficult to prove, or too embarrassing to […]
To those driving through rural Illinois, silos, grain bins, and barns seem to simply be part of the natural landscape — and their dangers are often overlooked. Farm workers as well as visitors to the premises (including children) are susceptible to catastrophic injuries when climbing ladders or loading goods into these structures. Owners of agricultural […]
If an accident causes visible injuries to a child, it’s fairly easy to pinpoint how those bruises or broken bones occurred—and who should be liable for medical expenses. But what about the less visible emotional harm that an accident can do to a child? The nightmares after witnessing a parent’s gashes from the backseat? The […]
